As in any community, the search engine optimizers (SEO's), the professionals who are paid fees to get their client websites ranked highly among "free" search engine rankings, have their bitter disputes. In one corner, the blistering attacks continue.....
Aaron Wall, one of the top SEO's out there, lays open some of the
blistering words regarding the
Ihelpyouservices SEO forum.
Personally, I don't participate in any one SEO forum on a regular basis, but rather, read multiple forums, use
Forum Tracker to help with that, and post in very few forums.
I do SEO work professionally, but for small and medium businesses, largely on personal referrals. I don't have an SEO website so that should tell you my interest level in making that my sole, full time job.
But none the less, I know many of the people in the industry from the forums, and having worked in my last job in near full time managing SEO projects, along with a decent engineering and consulting staff.
I find Aaron's comments very harsh, but I do have a lot of respect for him. I have no criticism's either way, and don't take sides on this one. It just goes to show you though, how perception and one's own view of the "facts" can influence their ideas and opinions.
In the world of SEO, it is part magic, part art and part science. So those of us who do SEO work all have elements of a magician, artist and scientist in us.
I support Aaron, and always have. He gave us a link to a fledgeling website of ours last year and we appreciated that.
So we'll alert you to something special Aaron is doing. He has pledged to donate 100% of his
SEObook ebook sales for the month of January.
Since our readers are generally newbie to intermediate webmasters, you most likely could benefit a ton from his SEObook. Go over there now and pick up a copy. After you've read it, drop me some comments or a short review!
to me SEO is about hopefully giving the small guy (like me) a chance to compete in the market and giving them a voice in the world.
people who are quick to judge and gloat when bad things happen to others do not make the web a better place.
Nandini is one of my friends and she lost at least one of her friends to the Tsunami too. A portion of her business model was just challenged and the fact that those people were gloating and being nasty at what may have been a technical glitch was exceptionally frustrating to me.
I think that money means too much to too many people and the ebooks really do not cost me much to sell (other than updating it and paying for hosting) and I have a really really low cost of living, so why not try to help out?
