Tracking Website Action

So you're done building a website. Next you want to market it. While you are doing your marketing however, there are some nifty tools out there to help you track how your website is doing and what your competition is doing......
Let's start with the simple ones for today.
First off, you can use
Google News Alerts to track any news by keyword(s) to track news activity pertaining to your industry, name, brand, product or competition. The options are endless, and free. Whenever your keyword phrases turn up on any of over 5,000 websites, you'll get an email alert.
The next option, and it's one that for some odd reason has not caught on, is
Google Web Alerts.
I have no clue why this free service isn't used more often, or spoken or written about much. Perhaps it's everyone's secret and no one wants to give away their most valuable secrets, now do they?
Well, I don't mind. After, that's what you come here for, right?
The interesting thing about Google Web Alerts is that you can track keyword phrases that occur both in their search engine, from Google News or from both.
So use your imagination, try out a couple alert functions for both web and news, and keep an eye on what the world is saying about you, your industry, your website, your competition, your sister or whatever!
