Robin Good is one of the few writers online that I admire and follow closely....

I applaud Robin for taking a leadership position by banning annoying advertisements on his very popular set of websites.

We have never had the luxury of offering banner ads, but we have purposely avoided them also. Our website began with the sales of Dave's Instant family of software tools. Unfortunately, we offered resell rights to them, and while there are over 1,000,000 websites now offering Dave's tools combined, once the genie was out of the bottle, unfortunately, we didn't profit nearly what we expected.

So several years ago we turned this website, IWT, into an information portal for beginning to intermediate webmasters. When Google came out with Adsense, it was a logical choice to add to the site, and it did well for us for a while.

But we are now reviewing that too, as G has little reporting, offers zero help in telling us what pages or ads were clicked or what our payouts per click are.

At any rate, Robin is an excellent pioneer, writer, artist and technologist whom I would highly urge you to follow. We applaud him for taking such bold steps, especially in a market where ad spending is on the growth track once again. You can subscribe to the email version here and get RSS versions from there on.
