Website Images

The images on your website can consume quite a bit of bandwidth.  For those who may not know, or have the right tools, you can compress your images so that your website will load faster for your visitors and search engine spiders.

With the explosive growth of high speed internet access in the USA and other countries, this may not seem like such a big deal (compressing your images).  However, think again!

If for some reason, your visitors' ISP might have some network problems that are just enough to prevent your website from loading.  SE spiders may not be able to spider your pages, moving on to other websites.  And worst of all, broken images due to slow loading may make your webiste look ugly, costing possible advertising dollars or lost sales.

How do you compress images?

If you use Adobe Photoshop, there is a feature in the File command named "Save Image For Web".  That function has a very nice compression function that allows you to select the file type and quality of the image.

Many average webmasters don't spend the dollars on Photoshop however.

So what are you to do?

Here's a great website that will allow you to compress Gif, Jpeg and other file types.

Not only that, but there are many other utilities at that site that provide some really great utility.  Explore around.

Have a great weekend everyone!
