PC Security

I have to change the discussion today.  I'm going to ask you to do something that is free, takes just a few minutes and will help you discover if you have holes in your computer.
I'm sick and tired of spam and spyware.

I'm pretty sick of those people who don't have virus protection or firewalls that enable this crap to get on their computer, that subsequently gets transmitted to mine.

I've got firewalls - 2 of them - one software - Zone Alarm - and one physical - a Belkin wireless hub / router / firewall.  I use Norton AntiVirus Corporate edition and about 4 anti-spyware tools, including the new Microsoft Spyware tool I wrote about here previously.

If you are reading this - please get your PC secured!

Here is a great utility to help you test for trojan horse holes in your computer.

It will take about 10 minutes to run, so run it and go back to another browser and do other stuff.

If you have holes in your ports, you better be scared and go get Zone Alarm, the free edition.

Then, to double check your work, go to Steve Gibson's Shields Up site and test your ports for trojan horse holes again.

Steve is a brilliant programmer who has a ton of free utilities on that site if you go to the home page, you'll see them.

I'm banging on this issue of PC security today for YOUR benefit, which ultimately will benefit me by not having to deal with the spam and other crap that gets spread by lazy, unknowing Internet users.

Please use these tools and lock down your PC!

Thanks!
