sep 29 newsletter
Hi:
Wow...it's been a long time since you have heard from me.
And am I really sorry.
I had some twists and turns in my life.
I apologize for the absence.
I can now turn my attention to once again sending great tips and advice to you.
I hope you give us a chance to reacquaint ourselves.
===========
First up, I'd like to introduce my business partner of 2+ years - Skip Pratt.
Skip is joining me publicly for the first time. We've kept him behind the scenes since launching Instant Web Site Tools over two years ago, but he has been very involved, trust me.
Skip has had the good fortune of being able to migrate himself to complete self-employment, largely on the Internet.
His marketing, sales and management background is very impressive and one that I think you can learn from, as I have.
So from the next issue forward, you'll be hearing from both Skip and myself in a very unique and distinct blend of technical and marketing.
Both Skip and I have a different "voice" in our writing, and we hope you truly enjoy the contrasts and content of our ezine.
So please welcome Skip into the "public" side of IWT!
===========
I'd like to alert you to is a major change to my primary website and strategy:
http://www.instant-web-site-tools.com
For a lot of reasons, I decided to abandon my product sales and move IWT to a publishing model, moving away from the re'sell rights software market.
I have chosen to offer free tips and code samples to beginning and intermediate web developers.
Along with that, you will see that I have implemented an advertising model and chose Google's Adsense.
So far, I am very pleased with the results and the accompanying feedback from our broader audience.
Hopefully there is information, tips and advice on the site that can help you achieve your goals.
But not to worry - Skip and I have about 15 different web sites of a wide variety of models. We'll be telling you more about them also in future issues.
I'll be sharing some of my experiences with product creation, resell rights and Internet marketing in future issues of this Instant Newsletter.

Windows Tips
In this issue, I'm passing along some of my favorite MS Windows tips.
Do you have a windows key on your keyboard? It's the one with the windows logo on it, usually found between the ctrl and alt keys on the lower left of the keyboard. If you have a laptop it can also sometimes be located in the top left corner.
The windows key allows for the following shortcuts:
Windows key + e open explorer window Windows key launch start menu Windows key + d minimize or maximize all windows (toggle) Windows key + f display search dialogue Windows key + r display run command Windows key + pause/break key display system properties Windows key + tab cycle through buttons on the task bar
Next....
When you close down your computer do you get the message:
"it is now safe to turn off your computer" and you have to power off manually?
To perform an automatic shutdown do the following:
Hit windows key + pause/break- this launches the system properties box. Click on the hardware tab then device manager. Expand the computer branch (click on the +) and check if it says "standard PC" if it doesn't you can't perform an automatic shutdown.
Next, right mouse click on a blank area of your desktop, choose properties | screensaver | power.
Click the APM tab and check the box that says:
"Enable advanced power management support"
click ok.
The next time you close down windows it will power down your PC automatically and you wont get the message.
